Where are some other good musicians forums????

Sign in to disble this ad
First off, I know that this is completely in the wrong forum!!! I really wasn't sure where to post it at all!?!? We could really just use a general dicussion forum Anyways, I live in Bum****, TN and the music scene here is real one dimensional. You are either playing country or metal, and that's it!!!!!!!!! I listen to alot of different stuff like jazz (monk, coltrane, herbie hancock), funk (parliment, soulive, galactic), and other less commercialized genres. I am really into the jamband scene. So, naturally that is how I play. I do alot of moving and jamming around the fretboard. Most of the guitar players around here that I know, which ain't many, hate that. They want you to be a ****ing stage prop and just sit back there and play one note'ers all night So, I was wondering if there were any good forums for musicians that might be broke down to geographical regions. So, youo can find folks that are into your style to jam with??? Please help!!!!! Again I am sorry about the forum thing. I am kinda getting notorios for this I still new and kinda feeling my way around

Okay, assuming you're looking for a site that allows you to hook up with other musicians in your area, I would recommend starting with www.musicmates.com.

This site allows you to search for bands seeking musicians in your area. Hope this helps.

Well, I checked the site out. The first thread I read was this:
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums...d.php?t=314337

It is titled "Tips for you and your bass to sound GREAT! " and contains such gems as:
Quote:
*If it is raining you NEED to tune your bass, rain makes your strings get out of tune.

back on topic... try either of the following to see if there is any activity in your area:

http://craigslist.org (select the nearest city on the right, then "musicians" under "Community".)

http://www.communitymusician.com/music-classifieds.html (find the nearest city)

If you're looking for another bass forum, I find The Dude Pit interesting sometimes. I end up going back and forth from TB to DP, OK? Here's the link..http://www.vintagebass.com/thedudepit/

There's the Harmony Central forums ( http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums )
Ernie Ball has their own forum --> www.ernieball.com/forums
Also, there's ebassist --> www.ebassist.com
and bassnutz --> www.bassnutz.com

There are others but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

I like MX, I post there a lot more regulary there than I do here, but I find myself coming here more and more often, as I'm always learning something new or finding new players to check out! Hell, I might even donate sometime...

I post in the 'Songwriting and Lyrics' forum over there. Not so much otherwise.

My favorites besides Talkbass are
www.tdpri.com (stands for Telecaster Discussion Page Re-Issued). They cover Teles, Strats, Amps, Bass, Pickups, etc and there is a link to a Gibson site for the humbucker crowd. The Webmaster is also named Paul and lives in Texas.

AND

www.steelguitarforum.com Obviously about steel guitars. I am a youngster there at only 59.

These are two very well run forums. The members of both have a huge amount of information and are very helpful.
