Where's the "new" MP3.COM type site?

Back in the day (1999) MP3.COM pretty much was THE spot for independent music on the web - the forums roared and it was a pretty cool place. I realize there's dozens on places now - but which one has the best community -ya know, people sharing tracks - doing re-mixes of each others work - lending their talents to each others work - that type of thing.

I've found that myspace and purevolume are really good places to find bands. Not sure about more communal things like your describing, though icompositions does some of that for Apple GarageBand users.
