I've been thinking about this lately, and here is a tentative list: Jauqo III-X: a monster player, nice guy, and man who has overcome struggles to be the great success he is. KJung: sneaky good player, nice guy, very comfortable in his skin guy who knows what he likes. Woodchuck: Not on TB so much anymore, but a man who has lived the bedroom bassist's dream, going from non-player to major pro in seven years well after turning thirty. Choad42: The man has groove for days, cranks out wonderful downloads, and is also super nice. Shelly: She has the perfect bass collection! Another monster player, and great source of information. Brad Johnson: Dude can really be abbrassive, but he tends to really know his stuff too. Cheewiz: Down to earth guy whose honesty I admire. SteveC: as a horrible GAS whore, I can express how much I admire his discipline over the years. Maybe one day, I will be like him.
This is a tentative list, there are lots more people here I admire too.

You're a very articulate fart smeller. I mean smart feller.

Chef -- great guy, level head, knows his stuff straight up.
Lokire -- Crazy good player especially for his age, and you won't meet a nicer or more modest guy.
Passinwind -- Smart as heck, and funny to boot. Very generous with his time and knowledge.
greenboy -- Also crazy smart, and very generous with his work on the fEarful stuff.
4mal, Jerry J, and too many others to mention -- local fellow gearhounds who have helped me quite a bit (or enabled my bad habits, depending on your viewpoint).
I know I'm leaving out a lot of great people, but my daughter is screaming in the other room . . . |

If I do think about it it, there are a bunch of folks on both sides of TB who have been really nice to me. Better for me to not make a list because someone will be left out. My brain isn't what it used to be.
Peace,
S

Although early on, we had a really nasty fight, I admire Bruce Lindfield. He is clearly a dedicated educator and ambassador of Jazz and the double bass.

Clearly there are hundreds more people that I have enjoyed chatting with over the last five years, but hey, you can't mention everybody!

That, and he's a raging GAS-aholic but yet still has an open mind when it comes to gear. |

If he posted more, Jeff Berlin would probably be number two. |

There are too many bass players that I admire on TB for me to list but I'm also constantly impressed by Off Topic threads and the level of thoughtful discourse that takes place there, compared to other sites. I've come to admire many members here for their intellectual and philosophical viewpoints, as well as for their bass related knowledge.
TB really is a special place.
