This is of course regarding the song Portrait of Tracy.
Sorry that I don't know it. Feel free to act like I did not know the earth revolves around the sun. But yes who or what is tracy? A woman, a guy? Mother, Girlfriend, Friend?

I read that Jaco used to play it as sort of a "harmonics excercise" and Tracy liked it. She often requested Jaco play it while she was taking a bath because it helped her relax. She would yell out from the bathtub when Jaco was practicing, "Hey Jaco, play my 'bathtub music' for me!" ....or somthing like that.

"bathtub music" would have been a better name for it!

Hey now, you're selling Tracy short. It's got more than cows. Like Hell's Angels and meth labs.

That is pretty much the story. Except, I don't think it was exercises, he was working on a tune, and Tracy called it her Bathtub Song.

But yea, Tracy was Jaco's first wife. Jaco and his friend picked up Tracy and her friend and gave them a ride, and Jaco hopped in the back with Tracy and that was the start of it all!
Wrote Continuum when he was 19, had a kid when he was 20, and proclaimed "No more bull****. I've got a family. I've got to be the world's greatest bass player"

Sorry. I'm a bit of a Jaco fan.
