I'll be there on Saturday the 19th, first time in 10 years for me! My friend who's a drummer will be there with RIT Percussion showing off some chops yo! They're a pretty cool drum company. Dumb question, are cameras allowed?
Rawk on!
Joe

Have not been to the NAMM (or CES) before. Looking forward to it.

And got a business meeting the day before, so the airfare is free.

Winter NAMM blows away summer.

I'll be in the Spector and Aguilar booths, come by and say hello.

I always bring a video camera. It's polite if you ask people before taping them and most will say it's OK.

Yeah cameras are allowed, I got some great pics from last year (a bunch of em are of the models at the Dean booth. You get tickets if your somehow affiliated with any companies or musicians. If you can find a good friend whos going, usually they can get you a pass. Wheres Summer NAMM? Ive never been.

I will be there Thursday and Friday.

I will definitely be by the Benavente booth. I have 80 trillion meetings set up (for work) but hope that I can get around to (badly) play some basses.

This is my first NAMM too. I went to AES this summer which was cool but a bit too tech-y for me.

Wow, I am shocked you don't know (no insult intended - you are just dripping with knowledge about everything is all).

NAMM is the National Association of Music Merchants and the event is the largest musical instrument/gear tradeshow of it's kind. Basically everyone comes out and shows off their new models, solicits publicity, orders from retailers, etc.

This is my first one, so I think that's it in a nutshell but someone else may be able to paint a better picture.

look up the website to get an idea of the size of the event
the event fills every square foot of the convention center,
plus more at some of the adjacent hotels
u dont get in unless u are a member
it is open to the trade only

my favorite time is after i get so tired that i need a litte time to rest up
on the second or third floor is the bosendorffer (sp) exihibit and the big pipe organ manufacturer exhibits, i can slip in there for a seat and usually great classical players
and sometimes when the moon is rite, dualing classical players, kinda like gc on a staurday with guys battling versions of stair way to heaven, just much better
