I love them, except for the fact that John Moyer seems like a bit of a sell out to me. He had his signature Traben, then left Traben, and released the EXACT same bass but with BC Rich on the headstock.

I would think that was probably more to do with the holding company than it being his own choice. |

Liam | check out the worst bands ever thread, and the songs you hate hearing on the radio thread, not a single good thing to say about them that I have found yet. believe me, I used the search function

And the vocalist keeps doing this weird "monkey" noises which I think sound silly.

Secondly, for some reason the majority of metalheads believe that if you can understand what the vocalist is saying, it's not true metal. Whatever man, I don't understand why everything has to be shoved into some genre and exist by the laws of said genre. That limits music too much.
Thirdly, I haven't seen much Disturbed hate on these forums either, but then again I don't give a crap what songs people on TB are tired of hearing, nor what bands they dislike. It's just like bass tone, it's all perspective and personal judgement. If you don't like Disturbed, don't listen to them. If you do like them, listen to them. Either way, screw bashing bands. I absolutely can't stand the majority of bands that people mention on this forum, but I don't sit here and type up posts bashing them. To each their own, man. |

My mate has the Traben JM4 and its AMAZING for what he paid. Another thing i don't like about them is at their gigs, when it gets to the guitar solos, the sound gets really thin, because theres a massive gaping hole where the rhythm guitar should be, and is on the albums.
I do actually love the band, they have some really deep songs, just nobody ever notices.

Since the vast majority of heavy metal music contains intelligible vocals, that statement makes no sense. |

| | | | Well I'm not really into heavy music so I'm never browsing the metal threads here. That said I do like between the buried and me and protest the hero because IMO both those band are very talented. Anyway I don't see any disturbed hate on here. Perhaps only cus I'm not in the right forums to see it. I don't like disturbed but did see them once cus a friend won free tickets a few years ago they were a very tight live band. I don't like then but don't see a reason to hate them. |

And once again, it all depends on what you consider to be "metal". The majority of metal heads that I've been around listen to things like Behemoth, Gorgoroth, and other bands that I highly dislike simply because I have no idea *** they're saying. And then they want to turn around and say things like "Slipknot isn't really metal because the vocals aren't heavy enough." This entire topic and conversation is purely subjective, and your little smartassed "citation needed" is a load of b.s. simply based on the fact that we hang out with completely different people, so of course I'm basing on personal experience and not your experiences. If you have different experiences, then shrug and recognize that your friends and associated don't necessarily say the same thing that mine do. I'm done here, I learned a long time ago not to argue with people over subjective matters. |

I'm not a metalhead (though I was as a teen) and I think they're friggin awesome. I love the sound, the production, the vocal quality and to some extent the lyrical content.
That said, I could think of two iffy spots:
1- Dave can't keep up that metal growl live... it's kinda rough when he loses it.
2- The debut single from their last album was an environmental mantra. Metalheads do not respond well to hippie issues.
It's also possible that you're hearing this from metalheads who just want the thrash without melody (Slipknot).
But as far as "hate"... it's just professional jealousy. It's always been there, usually borne on unrealistic idealism. I'm reminded of a friend of mine who was all into Aerosmith's "Eat The Rich" because it summed up his attitudes, unaware of the hypocrisy that Aerosmith isn't recording and performing for free.
