+1 on Billy Talent. I saw a Canadian 3 piece punk band at Bamboozle a few years ago called Inward Eye. These kids were great, and nice guys to boot!

Dont' know how they do outside of Canada Though...

Regarding the % canadian stuff roll on radio, it's even more restrictive here in Quebec as there's a good percentage that has to be french language. So it's really hard to get stuff to get play if your songs are in english here, you must have some really nice songs and get success out of here first...

They do this to protect our culture and etc... Which is may be a good thing, but the downside is they have to play more crappy stuff to get the legal french % of songs... lol
Lol,
I do not agree with the English singing band being hurt, pretty much all live music venues predominantly have English sp. band. French singing band also suffer from radio station selection. I know a lot of good band in both language that get zero airtime.

Always the 6-7 business made "entertainers" with the same songs on repeat.

I have some albums by a Canadian 5 piece band from Quebec called Offenbach. They were a good band and released a lot of records but never made it in the U.S. because they mainly sang in French but they were popular in Europe.

God do i hate Sloan.. I remember seeing them in College in a packed tiny venu in Kingston, only band playing that night for 15$.. They had no interaction with the fan's at all.. Played for maybe 40 minutes, and just went back to their bus... The entire place were screaming for an encore for 10 minutes, and they just peaced..

For a band that at the time was still on their way up, they convinced two fan's never to listen to them again.

That is until we did a cover of "if it feels good do it"... I really didn't want to, but i couldn't deny peoply up here LOVE to hear that song. So i gritted my teeth and did it..

^^^This.
I have three friends who make an annual pilgrimage from NYC to Montreal, just for the babe-watching. New York freakin' City, where the women are no slouches, mind you!

I admit, that makes my friends pretty pathetic, but still... Montreal women ftw!

Dude, at least up until recently these guys were playing under a different name (which I'm now forgetting) at the Gem on Davenport. Check it out if you're ever up in Toronto. No cover, good beers. They still sound incredible!

Thanks for reminding me ... geez I almost forgot them too, and still have Allied Forces, Never Surrender, and Thunder Seven on vinyl. Great band.

My band is a three-piece. And we're all Canucks. Ergo, we must be fantabulous.

Is it because Canadians are nicer people?

I mean, if you're a nice guy, you'll actually be nice to your bandmates and practice at home and show up on time and not be a giant ego douche, and as a result your band will be better overall. How's my theory?

Depends really. A lot of Canadians are super nice but we also have our fair share of egomaniacs and losers. In the metal scene where I'm from on the east coast you essentially have two classes of metalhead: Normal people with jobs and a life and 'career musicians' who play out once a week, collect welfare most of the other time (and I mean straight up welfare, not E.I.), and generally treat anybody they deem unworthy like garbage. I'm not crapping on welfare or the metal scene in general, just really seems to be a 50/50 split.

But yea, most of us are a'ight.

Don't remember if there was an es335 or not.
I thought that Rush would have to sue them for copping their look so completely.
Favorite song: The Blinding Light Show.
Couldn't stand the drummer's songs/vocals.
Tried to listen to them recently and could only hack a few songs.
X2 I saw Triumph during the Rock and Roll Machine tour... great guitarist is that band, but the rythm section, cheesey lyrics and god aweful vocals (drummer!) quickly turned me off...
I understand that Triumph was a big hit in Texas during their hayday...
Ric Emmett is a fantastic guitarist who has moved from RnR to the jazz world. Mike Levine, bassist opened and is running a recording studio in Toronto called Metalworks...if memory serves me well
