Why Craigslist is better than E-bay.

I used to do a lot of buying and selling on E-bay. Then E-bay started nickel and diming and I got burned a couple of times.

Now I do business on Craigslist. I really prefer it because:

1) You deal with people face to face. No hiding behind aliases and communicating via e-mail.

2) I have met some cool people due to comment 1.

3) You get to check out the goods in person. This reduces the surprises when you get the item home and really start to use it.

4) You don't have to deal with mailing or shipping anything. People come over and pick it up.

5) Related to 4 you don't have to pay shipping fees you just go get it.

6) Probably best of all, you get paid in cash. No fake checks or wire fraud schemes.

Of course Craigslist is not perfect and I have had a few flakes, but overall I have been pleased.

I like it because you can still find real deals sometimes, like pawn shops should be. It's the best bet for finding that estate sale treasure. At least that I've found, I'm all ears if that's not the case.

I like it for the deals. Cause a guy might have a bass that would have had 20 bids on ebay but none of those people are within driving distance. So i get the bass for a good price. Example of last month??? my 1995 Soundgear Fretless for $100

I use both. I try to sell on CL way before ebay. There are deals out there on both. I have seen some smokin deals CL over the past year. I have also dealt will low ballers, a mail box full of BS, and my fair share of flakes. Ebay is fun...but more of a last resort for me. I look through them and the classifieds here for deals. Used is the way to go!!!

You folks aren't afraid of being robbed? And having someone you don't know coming by your own house?

Let's say you're selling a $1500 bass, these days I would think someone would guess you've also got more in there too, a good place to knock over when you're out, just saying.

I guess that's the part that always worried me about it. Maybe I'm paranoid but my security and being more anonymous is more important than a couple extra bucks to me.

On the other hand I have had nothing but great experiences in selling here in the TB classifieds.

One problem I find with CL is if you live in a small town your potential buyers is small.
