Why are Craigslist people ignoring me?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have been responding to a couple of ads I see on my local Craigslist. Anyhow I get no response and days later the ad is pulled. It would be nice to have them acknowledge me or at least tell me the item is sold.

...or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah it's ridiculous. I emailed one guy and told him I'd like to straight up buy something (a gu****) and he emailed me back that I should call him on sunday (the next day) to arrange a meeting time. He never gave me his phone number and never replied to my emails.

Some people just don't know how to act decent.

Yeah it happens, it's not just you. Usually once the gear is sold they dont give a crap which may be the case in your situations.

Yeah, it happens to me all the time. I answered an ad for a band looking for a bassist, which was really funny because there was very little description on their part on what they where about. I asked if they could give me a bit more to go on and got nothing in return. Buying and selling stuff is just as bad. I was selling a wah pedal recently, had a guy e-mail me that he was interested. I e-mailed him back to set up meeting details and he never got back to me. FLAKES!

Sometimes life gets to be the way it is, not the way you want it to be. Don't take it personally.

What would you do if you wanted to sell something & got 50 replies? Many people answer in the order received & stop when they have a sale, assuming others will know that no response means no deal.

Be sure to reply with something specific regarding the item. The first sign of a scammer is a one line, "Is the item (it) still available?", with no mention of what it actually is. This is a sign of the scammer copy paste generic bait email. I instantly delete these when I sell things on Craigslist.

While I reply to low ball offers, others often don't. Don't expect a reply on something that may be considered unreasonable.

My strange sense of humor thought it would have been extremely funny if no one would have replied to this thread.

Stuff happens. It's not personal, don't worry about it. Some people are either rude, idiots, or both.

Yeah, that Casual Encounters section can bruise the ego if you're not careful.

The CL is a silly place. Useful, but silly.

Hopefully you live in a town where the CL musician ads are something other than "Sludge/doom/general discontent metal band needs bassist - must have own equipment and transpo" like San Diego...

Yeah, craigslist is crazy Im trying to sell(excuse me, "put up for adoption with fee") my reptile and so far I've gotten a guy give me an offer that I accepted then he never contacted me again, and an angry email from some animal rights freak saying I shouldn't have bought an animal on impulse even though I've taken care of it for two years and wanna give it a home cuz I wanna move to a new place and the ones im lokin at dont allow animals, a lotta the ones that do are outta the question since they're outta my price range.
