Okay.
I own a real vintage bass, as most know already
For those who don't, that is a real vintage 1962 Fender Jazz.
I absolutely LOVE the road worn look, love the relic look.
So lets take this BS about its only guys that can't afford the real thing out of the equation.
I own the real thing and still want the fake thing.
Currently refinishing one of my Squiers, it WAS a very nice poly finished antique burst Jazz.
It will be a Nitro finished, very lightly reliced, jazz.
Probably gonna be Surf Green. I'm almost 100% sure, I'm gonna do the same with my Classic Vibe soon in Sea Foam Green. I'm absolutely sure I'm gonna get a road worn Jazz at some point soon. Gotta find one first. :-)
Why? Well, it's simple, I just like the way they look. And if they play as great as everyone says, that's just bonus.
I don't wear dark unfaded jeans, I prefer my jeans to look slightly faded. In fact I think unfaded jeans look stupid.
I like some furniture to have a sorta rustic look too.
Like a custom table we had made from a ships captains doors with the wood planks & huge Iron braces like an old pirate ship look.
Wished I'd never sold it, but I paid $500 to the friend who made it and was offered $3500, couldn't pass it up.
Point is, that some things look good shiny and new, some look good weathered and worn.
Basses look good either way. Apples and oranges.
