Why doesn't Ibanez have more colors

I was looking at the Ibanez SR500 and SR700. The SR500 comes in one color, brown mahogany. The SR700 comes in two colors, amber and charcoal brown. Now I realize color may not be an important factor for some of you, but you would think they would give you more choices then that. I'm seriously considering one of these basses but I just don't like the choice of colors.

Geeza's probably right, at least that's the only thing I can think of. Ibanez's are fantastic basses, and I really don't think a color should be a reason not to get something thats purpose is auditory. Don't forget, you can always refinish it.

In a way, you can't really fault them for staying with a certain theme or character. It's a lot of oiled finishes for the mid line stuff, nicer transparent warm colours for the higher end stuff. SR500 oiled, SR700 transparent amber/charcoal. My RGT220H oiled finish, my RGT320Q regal brown burst. RG321 oiled finished etc...

besides lots of manufactures have themes and characters in colours. Fender has a bunch of pastel colours with a handful of bursts, gibson has a wider variety of bursts with some worn ones thrown in. Ibanez just seemed to picked what they picked to define their finishes.

and before people go calling me wrong, i know that fenders and gibsons and ibanez and every other brand under the sun also offers lots of colours not related to their general style, but if you look at what they are known for, it's hard to argue that they all have trends.

get a g&l or a lakland or a warwick ...

maybe they dont come in the colors you like because its a sign that you shouldnt waste your money on a ibanez

Show me one of those mentioned brands that you can get for the same price as an Ibanez. I also tend to enjoy those brands more, but for the price, you can't beat an Ibby. And of course, someone will probably mention that you can find used ones for the same price as a new Ibby... WELL THAN BUY A USED IBBY! If you seriously spent part of your day wasting time by bashing Ibanez in this thread, good job. If you can't post something useful towards the topic, stfu and go find a thread that interests you more.

I looked at used and new sr 700's they are in the 600 dollar range. If you cant find a G&L, warwick, or Lakland in that price range you are looking in all the wrong places. You can get a new G&L for that much, I saw a Warwick THUMB for 500 dollars once, Ive bought a 250 dollar G&L tribute 2500. Ive bought a 400 dollar german made Streamer STD, a person on Craigslist offered to trade me his lakland for that 400 dollar warwick..... NOW WHAT WERE YOU SAYING AGAIN?

Even though Im in the hospital on Ambien CR and Morphine, I think I made my point.

Well I know that I bought a new Ibanez SR506 with a hard case for $500, and while that isn't the most expensive model it is quite a bit nicer than any other bass I found for that price. Also, the Prestige models are just as good as any other bass in that price range. It's all a matter of opinion; if you want something different, then buy something different, but Ibby's truly are just as good.

Gentlemen, FYI I didn't want to spend more then $700, which is the price of a new SR700.

Look of course not all people are going to like all basses, that's just fact. Although I have seen many threads on here praising Ibanez basses.

Ive never played an Ibby that I liked, I could never get a good slap tone out of them and the spacing always seemed close. Bass is a matter of opinion and as its clear, there is not point in arguing opinion about basses. Next time Im at guitarcenter i will try out their nicest ibanez and try and see what you see in them.

for the record though, 700 dollars could get you a VERY NICE used bass. Whatever you do, BUY USED with that 700 dollars, you will get a bass that could be 1000-1600 dollars new, easily.

I'm pretty sure if I were in the hospital, I'd definitely be more worried about what's going on than claiming obvious B.S. on a bass forum, so whatever.

Back to the OP: Sorry for sidetracking your thread, pica, I just can't stand to see people post in threads specifically for the purpose of attacking whatever it is that the thread is about. I myself love my Ibanez and have considered refinishing it at some point, but haven't quite figured out what I want to go with. I actually saw a thread in the Luthier's Corner where someone took an older Ibby and redid it in some crazy yellow finish, it was pretty neat

The only G&L bass I'd be interested in is the Tribute Series JB-2. I think I saw it new for like $600.

Pica why are you so set on buying new? You realize you lose 30% of your purchase the second you walk out of the guitar store, right? If you bought used you woudnt have to get the tribute version of a G&L and could get the other, nicer series..

I don't have to buy a new bass. If I saw a good used bass I like, I'd buy it. I just use a new bass for price reference. I'm not the kind of person who buys and sells basses all the time. If I buy a bass I plan to keep it. That's just how I am. I know I'm weird.

I have an SR505 and one of the many things I love about it is the fact that it is beautiful in its simplicity.
