Why I hate song interpritations.

Sign in to disble this ad
You know those retarded video's on Youtube where someone takes a song you love and adds silly pictures and changes the lyrics to the song? Man they are starting to drive me insane. Last week I thought "what the hell, maybe this one might actually be funny". So I watched a interpritation of "****ing Hostile" by Pantera, a legendry song as any Metalhead would know. So anyway. When Phil screams "****ING HOSTILE!" the guy had put a picture of 'The Hoff' and the caption "****ING HOFF STYLE!"...

...

...

...

Now every time I listen to that song I hear in my head "****ING HOFF STYLE!!!"

Anyone else hate these things?

With novelty songs it's pretty funny. But when you actually love a serious song, and you see some really lame caption with it, and you cant get that caption out of your head every time you hear that song, it really really sucks!

A lot of them try too hard, it was funny the first few times, the Trivium one still cracks me up: But I've seen about 10 different ones that were less than funny.

I feel the same way about 95% of the professional videos as well. I really dislike pigeon-holing my thoughts to some scripted video while listening to a song.

While I'm in a complaining mood, I also hate it when we see a live concert video and the ignorant producer/director/editor/whatever feels that it's more important to see a fan rocking back and forth, an aerial shot of the place where the concert is taking place, etc. during a great solo or instrumental part of a song.

You blame the song interpretation because you can't get the caption out of you head... why don't you blame yourself instead?

IMO, you shouldn't feel offensed to see a song interpretation, even if you think the song is "serious" (btw, to qualify a song "serious" is too subjective... anybody have different opinions on it)
The song interpretation itself is ridiculous, don't take it too seriously! You find it funny, or you don't! period.

It's kind of hard to put down what I think. By 'serious' I mean its not a rediculous song like that Barbie Girl one, or that 'Dont Worry be Happy' song that everyone knows. I'm not really offended that someone has played around with the song and added funny pictures, it just sucks that every time I listen to that song I think of David Hasselhoff.

And +1 to all the anime things out there. It sucks when you search a band and 7 our of 10 hits on the first page are anime video's.

....... I was thinking of making one with Burzum's War.

The Black Metal ones are the funniest.

Watch this one and you will change your mind about it all!

Hallelujah someone who has said what I was thinking. I hate it especially when they cut to fan shots during bass solos. There is one video of the British band the Smiths doing a live concert version of Barbarism Begins At Home. About 7 1/2 minutes in the song goes to a heavy bass part. The idiot filming this concert at this precise moment chooses to go to a shot of a mad scramble of some fans to catch the lead singer's (Morrissey) shirt that he has thrown from the stage. The one shot of Andy Rourke playing bass is obscured by a light directly behind him. It's probably the one song of theirs with a good bass line too!
Here is the link....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI0POxZvt7I It takes ages to load but is really good.
