Why no blocks/binding on Fender guitars?

So this is something that has always kinda bugged me, and I've never been able to find the answer... How come the only electric Fender instruments to ever get blocks and binding were basses? I can imagine how nice a blocked/bound Strat might look, but I've never seen one before... Why did Fender only do this on basses (And specifically, it seems, the Jazz bass)?

Because there wasn't enough Cool to go around

A bound & blocked strat would look pretty cool. Maybe they thought it would be too gibson-like?

Huh, so I guess they reserve the blocks and binding for their less conventional designs... that would explain why the P-bass never had blocks/binding either (except for the "Big Block" bass... man that's a sexy bass) Anyways thanks for the info guys.

Lots of P-basses had B&B, dude. Look at the 1970's.
