And the #1 reason that gigging is so darned addictive is.......
I get to go to my happy place (AKA "The Zone") for a few hours and escape the living hell that is my day to day existence.

| | | | You get to play tunes with more different people than if you just practice with your pals. Besides, most of the pianists, drummers and horn players I gig with have day jobs and do not just show up wanting to jam at the same time I want to jam.
You play tunes all the way through in the moment rather than stopping from time to time to make a suggestion or something. Doesn't have to happen that way all the time, but IME most get together and play sessions aren't dress rehearsals.
You can justify spending gig $$$ on (temporary) relief from GAS. |
