I'm definitely not saying all guitarists all guitarists are stupid or that most guitarists are stupid. They say stupid things and insist on them to the death when they honestly don't know what they are talking about. But I'm being serious, what do you think makes some guitarists so stupid. I'm starting to believe that there is something that draws stupid people to guitar. Once again I would like to clarify something, that I'm not saying only stupid people are drawn to guitar. But yes I would like to hear your theories.

Second question: can you be more specific?
Personally, I seem to think that there are just as many stupid bass players as there are guitar players. |

Deeply silly question.
Utterly pointless thread.

I have no facts to back that up, but just a 'gut' feeling. Also, not even taking into account that many, many bassists also play or have played guitar. |

We all are stupid or dumb in someone elses eyes, regardless of the instrument, or lack of it. It's just a fact of life.
Just like 90% of all the drivers feel/think/believe that they are better drivers than average Jill or Joe wheeling around.

After all, isn't it widely considered a bassist is a failed guitarist? if their so stupid, why do most guitarists know more theory, and have more technique than bassists? Bass can be dificult if your into that funk/slap stuff, but I'm a metal head, so that doesn't matter. The reason you see so many guitarists is because the instrument is cool. Since it isn't so low, you can do alot of stuff with them, faster than you could on bass, and it will sound better, because it is cleaner and louder, the strings are closer, and the necks are smaller. I'm picking up guitar soon for this reason. |

Now a lot of very good famous bass players started out as guitar players. And many others, including myself, play guitar. I'm not a failed guitar player. I'm actually very good. But I like playing bass better.
You can do anything on bass you can do on guitar. It being low doesn't mean a thing. There are many great bass players who can out play most guitar players.
I think it used to be that guitar players had more technique because that was the role they filled. Bass players were in the back playing rhythm parts and didn't solos or anything.
That's changing though.
As far as bass not being as clear or as fast... how's this? solo_bass.mp3 |

Seriously though, if that's the kind of musicians you are meeting... that's the problem!
Guitar is a popular instrument, so more people play guitar.
That was easy, wasn't it. |
