I need a 6 string acoustic electric guitar for a project.
I've got fat fingers and would like a wide neck guitar (my 5 string bass is a wide neck, too). I've got an electric guitar, Dean 12 string that I play with six strings.
Any makes or models I should look at?
This is what I'm looking for:
- no more than $800
- good pickup/preamp - work on stage w/o major feedback problems
- playable
Thanks,

Their standard necks are a little wider than the typical acoustic, but not as wide as a classical. Also, almost all their guitars have the option of adding electronics. http://www.seagullguitars.com/
They're owned by Godin, which actually owns/runs several acoustic guitar companies. I can't vouch for Seagull personally, as I am still in the process of purchasing one, but I've read up on them a lot and they're recommended by many acoustic players on the Acoustic Guitar Forum: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/ |

I also have great big orangutan hands, and my main acoustic guitar is a 12-string because I like the wide neck, but I'm pretty comfortable on a Seagull.

After looking around, one site that does a good job of selling and describing acoustic guitars is elderly.com.
Their policy is to include the nut width in the description - if it isn't there, it's the standard 1-11/16".
Not a bad place to GAS for a vintage bass, either.
I'll be checking out the Seagull line.
Cheers,

A popular choice for a finger-style player... wide necks, 1-11/16" is a standard strumming width as in Martin guitars. Taylors are 1-3/4". I find they have better string spacing and the company is known for the quality of their instruments. The lower end, 210/310/410 line is in your price range. |

Taylors are a good suggestion too, but since he already got a Seagull then... |
