Will amp fit in new Ford Focus Hatchback

Sign in to disble this ad
Well it was about time I got a new car and i think I've decided on a the new ford focus for various reason, size, cost, mpg etc. Anyway I have an ampeg B200r and I have trouble getting it in and out of my current car (Vauxhall corsa) as It has to go onto the back seat, Ideally Im looking to transport all my gear in the boot of my car. So is the boot big enough on a Ford Focus Hatchback for my amp and also a bass a guitar in hardcase? Ideally I'm going to get my amp flight cased too, so can any ford focus drivers shed some light for me as I can only find boot diameters in litres which doesn't help one bit.
Thanks in advance

Can't speak to a British model, only the US one. Looking at them I'd say yes to the amp but the bass hardcase might be too wide depending on what it is.

I have a B-100R (basically same size) and it fits in a (US) Chevrolet Cavalier trunk, which is pretty small. The hard case is a tight fit, though; I just put the gig bag in the trunk with substantial padding where I can.

I also assume you want to put the rear shelf down so the bass rig is not viewable from the inside of the car.

If you're buying the car new, call the dealer and ask him to measure the boot.
You want to KNOW in advance, not just guess.
In fact, if it's a current model, you could do that even if you're buying it from somewhere else

I was "certain" my BFM Omni widebody would fit into the back space in a Prius, with room to spare. I only eyeballed it.
Well, I was right that it fits, but just BARELY... .

The hard case for the guitar is for rickenbacker which is the same size as the standard case for fender. Having a look the EU Ford focus seems to pretty wide, wider than my friends Zafira (which I can get the case in above his parcel shelf due to plastic cubby holds being in the sides of the boot
I'm not entirely bothered if the parcel shelf needs to be on as such as I won't be leaving it in my car. Just will be using for transporting to gigs etc so can take more people when driving instead of constantly taking the seat down.
Thanks for the info though

If you lay the rear seats flat you should have no problem fitting all of that stuff.

My Mazdaspeed3 can easily carry that stuff, and it's built off the same platform as the Focus.

My next car will probably be a Focus wagon or 5-door hatchback. Before I put the money down, I plan to load up all my gear and fit it into the car to make sure it will fit. If I can't get my stuff into it, then it's a deal breaker.

I have a Honda Civic. I put my briefcase, music stand, bag of fake books, bass stand, GB Shuttle 3.0 10T and my bass in a gig bag all in the trunk. I still have room for s few bags of groceries.

I load my 05 Focus Hatchback in the following way:

Back seat up, with two Aguilar GS112's in the back, set as to accommadate my AG500 (in case) in the same space. The back passanger seats are reserved for a hand truck and my Yamaha Patitucci 6'er and Ergo 5 string EUB. I can still fit another person in there if I had to.

Love my Focus. I also still get 30mpg on the highway and in town with all that in there.

With the rear seat folded, I get an Avatar 2x10,1x15, BTB 455 in softcase, Jazz bass in gig bag, Eden WT550 in 4 space rack case, furniture castor dolly, music stand, and guitar stand, without having to pile stuff in the front seat, Mine is an '04 ZX3.
