Will keyboards help?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello fellow bassists (and not :P )
I'm playing Bass about one year and a half
and i think that i'm making a very good progress,
i was thinking of starting to learn keyboards
as i am a huge fan of jordan rudess and
i would like to play those synths as leads etc...
i know that the road is long and i don't want it as
my primary instrument as it is the bass.
I was wondering, will keyboards help my bass
playing be improved?

Yes, learning some piano will help with your understanding of theory. Drums would help develop rhythm, too.

And I *love* your use of English! Very "Borat"!

good luck!

Learning piano is beneficial to any and all musicians.

+1
these have both helped me with exactally what bigoldharry said. i learned to play drums (not well) and it helped my rhythm substantially and im currently taking piano lessons and my bass playing is *thriving* from this immensly!!

plus, even if it didnt help theory (which it really really does) why not learn em? I cant think of a reason why not to...

I learned alittle bit of piano and it helped out my playing alot, but learning to drum was more beneficial to me learning to "groove and play in the pocket" so to speak.
