Will playing bass ruin fish?

I was thinking of getting some fish. Would they be err... damaged by guitar/bass playing?

I thought the thread title was a koan...

of course, it would need to lose the question mark and perhaps the "Will"...

Playing Bass Ruin Fish

could be a band name, too...

Oh - and no, it won't. Unless you are crazy loud.

Anyway, back to the OP question: I've had tropical fish on and off since before I started playing guitar and bass. This includes times of rather loud jamming. I've had no problems. In fact, at one time, I had my aquarium next to my piano with about a half-dozen neon tetras in it, and every time I'd play Pink Floyd on the piano, they'd swim just as close to the piano as they could.

If you like aquarium fish, go for it!

Nah, the fish'll be fine. But if not, you can always stick 'em on a bagel with cream cheese and call it lox.

I have 50 tropical fish in two tanks in my basement where I practice. They are thriving.

I'd just be sure to get an plexi. tank so when the volume gets way high you dont risk the silicon seams in a glass tank blowing out on ya
Good luck with your fish, get some clown loaches they are great and i had mine for 15yrs. till I could no longer have a tank setup

Is there any problems with mixing fish? I was thinking about having a few Finding-Nemo fish and some tiny turtles.

Might even teach them to play bass.

Yes, playing a bass of any species would likely ruin it. Unless you're good with scales.

Turtles need dedicated tanks, they don't mix well with fish for a whole slew of reasons, included most species like to eat fish if they can catch them! Other than that, I've been keeping aquariums since before I was playing bass, and they mix just fine.

When I was in junior high school in south Louisiana we had as a class project an aquarium of native species. There were minnows, little perch, salamanders, frogs and such. I caught a little turtle and put it in, and within 5 minutes it had killed every other animal in the tank. It turns out that it was a baby alligator snapping turtle, one of the most voracious predators in the Louisiana inland waters.
