Ik know they have experimented with other tunings but these where lower than what they normally use(dropped B). |

Also, the drop D thing being a cop-out tuning only applies for guitarists. In fact I find it HARDER than to play in drop D than standard.

It's popular among guitarists because it makes it very easy to play power chords (as if they weren't easy to begin with!)
