Wired problem with my right-hand-muscles

Hey there!

I'd need some advice... i played a show last night, and i played pretty hard, half of the songs with pick (of a 50 minutes show)

And at the two last songs, my index finger in my right hand suddenly got numb and in the matter of a few seconds it felt like i lost all the muscle.power in it... i couldn't move it AT ALL anymore, it stayed in a "relaxed" position, and i jsut couldn't move it. I used the pic and after two minutes or so, it worked again.

Got any idea what the problem might have been? I had that happen to me before, but only twice 3-4 years ago... do i need to start worrying?

Should i visit a doctor? If so... should i go straight to a specialist?

Usually the reason body parts go numb is because of the nerves in that area being pressed on a certain way. It might have been the way your finger was hitting against the string that caused the pressure to make your finger numb. From what it sounds like, it doesn't sound like a huge problem, but if it happens more frequently, you may want to get a doctor just to make sure.

Probably just the nerve. Happened to me once or twice. I shouldn't worry about it. Maybe do something about your playing style.

Don't play so hard! If your fingers are going useless and numb on you, especially DURING a gig, you should see advise from a doctor. If the doctor doesn't tell you anything in bass terms: I'd say working on your rght-hand economy of motion, proper wrist angle, and generally playing more softly (turning your amp up to compensate) would be the best bet to stop this sort of thing from recurring.
