I know a lot of guitarist are very picky about the wireless units they choose based on how they can affect your tone. I have to imagine its the same for bass. Is there any tried and true brands or systems for bass that you guys can vouch for? I had planned on using my wireless unit from my guitar rig for my bass rig as well, in hopes of keeping cost down. I have the Audio Technica UHF system thats linked too below, now.

ATW-R2100

Cheers

i don't personally have a wireless system because i don't have the need for one right now (although they are cool). from what i've heard from others, here are the typical pros and cons:

pros:
less restriction (duh)
no cable tangling/ruining input or output jacks

cons:
some say you have to pay for audio quality ($300+)
batteries/battery charging
more (although still slim) chance for interference
reliability (as opposed to a cable)

as for tried and true brands, i've heard good things about shure and AT, and mixed reviews on nady and samson.

there's alll kinds of threads on this topic so you should do a search. however, there's two that come up on a regular basis that seem to do the job:

the new xwire
the shure ulx

i own the shure ulx and find it to be very good. neither of these are inexpensive, but with a wireless, you need the quality or your sound won't be what you want it to be. if you don't have the money to buy something good right now, wait till you do.

I'm going to throw my vote in for Sennheiser. I got me a Sennheiser ew172g2 that is absolutely spectacular. Here's my assessment after what I'll admit is a very short time playing with it:

Pros
-No more restricted movement
-Ridiculous range. To test it out when I first got it, I took my bass out of my apartment and into the parking lot about 100 feet back and it was still going string.

Iffy
-I like this, but my system in particular seems to put on a wee bit of compression in the signal. Dunno who would like that and who wouldn't

Cons
-It takes some getting used to in the EQ. It doesn't read like a standard cable, so adjustments do need to be made.
-Takes AA batteries. Mine haven't run out yet, but they will soon enough methinks.
-Stock cable is a little flimsy, cheap feeling.
