Wireless: Sennheiser EW 172 G2 vs. old model

I'm looking for a wireless system, and have read a lot of posts saying the Seenheiser EW 172 G2 is a very good system.

Now I have the opportunity to buy the old "non G2" version used.

How does this compare with the new version, is it worth getting.
Experience with the old version are very welcome
