Arrow Which Wireless System for a 5 String Bass???

Sign in to disble this ad

Hello!
I'm looking for a Wireless System for my Lakland 5 string and my budget can strecht up to $300-450.

I have already searched the forum and I've found lots of information but the truth is that I'm really confused with brands, models and frequencie range that is better for 5 String basses.

Could you give me some advice and recommend me any good and reliable wireless system for my 5 string bass, please?

Thanks to you all!

I have used my Shure PGX with a 5 and it seemed to handle it just fine all the way down to the low B

Well, not quite in your price range, but NSL sells the Shure ULXS for under $600. While the PGX may work OK, the low end of its frequency response is 45 hz, IIRC, and the ULXS goes down to 25 hz, much more appropriate for a 5-string.

+1. Last time I checked, it was closer to $500, which is $50 over your top limit, but it's worth it IMO just for the safety of getting what seems to be the best bass wireless under $1K.

Not to be pisch, but let's see. $500 is less than $600. Got it. And maybe you're thinking of the SLX, which is no bueno because of the frequency response thing.

Thanks guys but I think the Shure ULXS is a bit too much for me, on the cheapest place I have found it was $550.
The thing is that I really have to make an effort to go up to $450 so, at the moment cannot afford the ULXS.

Any other suggestions?
Does anyone knows about Nady or Trantec?

Nope, ULXS. I had asked for a price at NSL this March, and the price was $480 for the ulxs and $611 for the ulxp. I asked about a month ago for the ulxp again, and it was still 611, so I guess the ulxs is still $480. Which is 30 bucks over the thread starter's limit. I said it's closer to $500 because, seeing in your post that it's "under $600", he probably thought it's something like $590 or $580.
Paubass: www.northernsound.net is the url of NSL, shoot them a pm and ask for the price of the ULXS14.

BTW Paubass, you might wanna wait until January for the X2 units to come out... these have even more impressive specs than the ULX bass-wise, and they will most probably be cheaper too. Personally I'm waiting for the first reviews and if they're good I'll get one.

I just got a quote from Northern Light and Sound last week and the ULXS's are still $480. That's much lower than any other price I've seen so far.

Now I have to figure out how to defend that purchase to my domestic finance officer (AKA "wife").

OK, so for $480, no tax and maybe free shipping, you can get a first-rate wireless that you'll never need/want to replace. I'd have a bake sale or sell off a sibling to get that extra $30.

Sounds good to me, I'll save a bit of money somewhere else and I'll go for the ULXS...
I think, for a 5 string, having the frequencies down to 25 is going to make a difference and also is going to be worth paying the extra money.

Indeed, and you won't need to buy another wireless for a long, long time.
