I just realized that I have been playing bass for twenty years this month. I started when I was 14 and had an $80 no name black p-pickup with the always classic, sharp angled 4-in-line headstock (80's headstock designs - so sharp). And of course, a Gorilla B30 with the "Funk Switch". And the very first song I learned was "Welcome to the Jungle."
I also realized that since then I have forgotten how to play that song, and have lost almost all of my pick skills.
But man, do I still love to play bass. Everything about it from the personality that tends to go with it, to learning how to work on them, to having met some really great people, it's been such a great time, and I couldn't imagine what my life would have been like without it.
I'm happy being a bass player.
