Cool Woohoo, lunch break practice....

I brought my bass in to work today because I have an audition/jam tonight. I had my Tascam bass trainer and headphones in my gigbag so I decided to grab an unused conference room and bust out a quick lunch break practice. Worked really well but that hour FLEW by. Of course all I want to do now is keep playing, I do not find myself focused on work right now!

Does anyone else do lunch sessions to try and squeeze a little more practice time in to their day? Anyone keep a bass at work for just that reason?

I can see this becoming a regular thing. I thought about getting one of those mini Traveler II basses to keep in my office but I can probably fit a regular size bass in my large cabinet so maybe just something used and cheap will do the trick.

I squeeze in my practice time via drumsticks, practice pad, and an mp3 player. It helps keep my rhythm up. I would love to bring my Ibanez acoustic around but it's just too cumbersome.

Hi FuturePrimative.

3 guys at work formed a band with the purpose of playing at the company Christmas party last year & needed a bassist so I signed up. We have a big room all to ourselves and its stuffed with kit. The gig went really, REALLY well & recently we have been practicing every lunchtime to play at my 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday. We're doing 13 songs ranging from Boys Are Back In Town to Chasing Cars (which I'm singing ) Its going to be brill as other friends from our the church have put together a band for the night to do some old R&R stuff (they have a totally brilliant singer ) , plus there'll be some live jazz, dance routines and even a Christian gospel song sung in Tamil!

Back to the plot, like you say, 1 hour is not enough! I used to go out running & cycling lunchtimes. I've put on 1.5 stone - honest! But I'm having a ball!

I often take my bass to university cause I have massive gaps inbetween lectures quite often. I've learnt some good stuff in this time!
