The worst music that has been recorded

Sign in to disble this ad
So i discovered this band, the Weasel Walter Quartet, to say the least it makes my ears hurt. This provoked me to ask TB, what is the absolute worst music, if you could grace it with the name, music, you have ever come across?

Heres the link to the Weasel Walter Quartet

Well, after a certain level of "bad" it becomes difficult to differentiate IMO. Thus, you must start to consider the ratio:

"badness" / (effort + success) X (ego of musicians involved)

when this equation is taken into consideration a few different outcomes can occur. IMO a few of the candidates may include:

Brokencyde
Complete
Final Placement
Spice Girls
Nickelback
Lil' Wayne

Any moron can make truely terrible music almost effortlessly, but when really terrible music results from hard work and determination is when the "worst" moniker deserves to be introduced to the conversation.

+1 on Nickelback! They bite wangus.

The singer always sounds like he's sitting on the toilet trying to push it out. (and they think that sounds good?????)

And, their music is kindergarten level. Total garage band dweebs.

The other band that belongs in this string is Behemoth. I have to wonder, did they need to attend "synchronized hair swirling" training? (the lecture plus the lab). Here is a vid of them...

Can you imagine them doing a cover of Stairway To Heaven with a singer like that?

There *is* a difference between a thing you dislike and a thing that is simply BAD...

That really wasn't that bad. Points for creativity.

I would much rather go hear that kind of music than hear yet another mediocre jazz quartet running through Summertime, Ipanema, and the like.

Nickelback may write obvious songs, but they can play.

For the record, I am not a fan, but the hating on them is really kinda unfounded.

Okay, since I like being Devil's Advocate...

You listed the "Spice Girls" as "Bad", and based on your above response, you believe that by "bad" you mean just plain BAD, rather than something you don't like.

How then would you judge the many folks who bought their recordings? Do they have different tastes from you (which would support my contention), or are so stupid that they like things which are bad... or perhaps are possessed by SATAN in a way that makes them embrace bad things as a part of a grand evil design?

Now i'm no metallist nor do i want to come out as a fan of the band but i find it rather absurd to assume they would or ever should do a cover of stairway to heaven. You'd never expect Larry Graham to do a cover of it even if he had the chops to sing it o_O

Are we talking bad as in "To me, this sounds bad" or do we mean from a technical level of using instruments to produce notes, and stringing those notes together to form some kind of song?

If its the first, then there of course its 100% subjective and there is no universal answer.

If the latter, then there probably can be something like a worst band of all time. And I nominate Complete. While I absolutely detest bands like Nickelback, The Jonas Brothers, etc., what they make is actually music. Not very good music IMO, but it is recognizable as music. Complete on the other hand actually sounds like 4 guys may have seen a band once about 15 years ago, picked up instruments for the first time, got on stage, and tried to imitate what they saw from memory.

All my opinion of course.

OMG!!! + a googalplex!

I can't even mentally fathom the word "music" in the same sentence as those other words.

Doncha just loves threads like this? It's so fun to bash bands that we don't like. (Of course, there will always be someone out there with a differing opinion, and that's just the way it should be!)

Am I suggesting that many musicians are............opinionated?

Nah........can't be.
