Worth going to see Yes?
 

So, Yes is coming through Detroit on April 12th...it sounds like a pretty good show. They're going to play the Yes album and Close to the Edge in their entirety, which is neat.

However, I don't know anything about Yes as of today...where they stand, if they've retained a lot of their ability, etc. Is anyone going to see them, or does anyone have any insight to offer as to what to expect from a Yes show?

I've seen them like 10-11 times over the years but it's been a while. I love Yes and think they're awesome but one thing that I noticed personally is that their shows can get a little tedious if you're not really into them.
But yeah, as far as how are they now, I really don't know for sure. I just dig Chris Squire's bass playing though so for that alone, I'd give it a shot personally.

saw the Yessongs lineup reunion about ten years back. Awesome show and they played close to the edge, sounded like 1973 again. Im not sure I would go without Jon Anderson in the line up, heard the new guy sounds just like him....still,
If you've never seen Squire live than thats probably worth the price of admission, his rig rocks.

I saw them a couple of years ago at the Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi, MS. Great show. I've been a fan since the early 70's, but that was my first time seeing them live. A couple of new faces, but the music was true to Yes. Chris Squire and Steve Howe are two of them most creative humans on the planet.

Go. I see they are coming back to Biloxi on this spring tour and I will probably go see them again.

I'm not much of a fan of the band other than Squire's playing. For me, it would be price-dependent--and I suspect the asking price is more than I'd be willing to pay for an act I'm not much into. YMMV.

I've seen them several times and they are always great. Heard that Jon Anderson is no longer touring with them...wonder how that show compares. But I'm sure those guys wouldn't go on stage without a solid vocalist who is able to perform at their level. One thing is for sure...that music is as hard to sing as it is to play.

Well, I definitely am interested in seeing Chris Squire, but I was also wondering about the new singer. Surprisingly, tickets start at only $29.50...if they were really pricey, I wouldn't even consider going.

Who is the new singer? I haven't really been following them for a while so I wasn't even aware that Jon Anderson had left...

I'm seeing them later this year. I saw them when they stopped in San Diego during the Fly From Here tour, and they were fantastic. Their lineup is now Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Geoff Downes (of The Buggles), Alan White, and Jon Davidson (of Glass Hammer). Davidson is a good vocalist and he handled himself well at the FFH show, I think it'll be interesting to see him performing an entire show as Jon Anderson... If you can pick up tickets for 30 dollars, I'd say go for it. My mate and I are going for 100 a ticket, and, if it's anything like their last show (that I paid similar money for), it will definitely go in my books as money well-spent. Close to the Edge, The Yes Album, and Going for the One are great classic Yes albums- I wouldn't want to miss it.

I love Yes. I have seen them a bunch of times. Without Jon Anderson I think I would pass. Unless the tickets were free.

I would go see a cover band do Yes and Close to the Edge in their entirety... so yeah I'd go... I am actually a little jealous of you...

I have never seen a prog band that got sloppy with age but I haven't seen them all.

Seeing and hearing Close To The Edge and The Yes Album performed in thier entirety would be worth it to me if I were going to see Yes, even without Anderson and Wakeman.

If they found a suitable replacement for Jon Anderson, I'd go.

Seeing even a bunch of surrogates and a couple of original members pull off their stuff live would be impressive, no matter what.

If they played Fragile, I'd be there so fast.

I saw them a few times in the 70's. Hearing those albums wouldn't be the same for me without the contributions of Anderson and Wakeman; but it will probably still be a great show. If you've never seen them, by all means go if you can.
