Thumbs up Would you buy a pickguard like this?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just made my first pickguard out of an old Who album and I'm thinking that I might do some more. I might throw them up on Etsy or Ebay or something once I have a few more under my belt. Think anyone would buy 'em?

The neck and strings look really strange due to the camera on phone. Thought I should clear that up after I got a better look at the picture.

I think the old record thing is a cool concept, and you did a good job on tracing/cutting. Some one would buy this, but i wouldn't, just not my thing. Maybe take requests from people who want them so theres no loss.

That's very cool.

I won't buy one, but I bet someone would.

That is not my style but I do think it looks cool and that it is a very good idea. I would try a few to see what the response is.

Basses have pick-guards?

Seriously, I think it's cool! Now if you could get ahold of a gold or platinum album...

Or the colored vinyl records that were so popular in the 70's. I would think that as long as the edges are buffed smooth this is a cool idea.

Cool idea. Maybe coat the paper label with some kind of sealant to keep it from bring damaged.

I think it's a cool idea. Definitely never seen one before. Like lowfreq33 said you would have to coat the label with something to protect it. It would be cool if you could get different colors, not to sure how you could do that. I have a record by the band Secession that is red and white, looks like one of those old life saver suckers they use to have back in the day, so you could find colored vinyl if you look hard enough. I'd probably get one if it was priced right. I think your on to something here, Good luck my friend.

I think people would buy that, the only issue would be having to cut up a record that you actually like.. who wants a pickguard of an album they hate, but who wants to cut up an album they like?

Composition of the cut and using the label to advantage are critical. I don't like the label in the example, but I can see how it could be done well.
