Depends on what you want. I asked a shop not long ago. They said basic designs would be $30-50 and more complex stuff would be more. A paint job can be a work of art.

I had a car shop paint my P bass for $200. The paint job was great and the finish is so thick and hard you would need a belt sander to get it off.

Edit: I'd also assume prices can vary on where you live.

Omg the Jazz bass is about $800 more than it should be
