Yes.

It is wrong. When I was young we didn't have gigs, or concerts, or electricity, or any of that fun stuff.

Be grateful you got a gig whippersnapper.

It's not wrong. A few years ago, the noise/chaos/performance art ensemble (I hesitate to call it a "band") I play bass and guitar for had a rare (i.e., we hardly ever played any shows) gig scheduled in Oakland (we're mostly based in Sacramento), way in advance. Then, as it got closer to the gig date, one of my favorite bands (Sparks) who VERY rarely plays U.S. gigs anymore announced a San Francisco gig the exact same night. I was really annoyed by this, and missed what was reviewed as an amazing show to fulfill my commitment for the gig. Bleh.

Not that I would whine...

I had a free ticket to see Steely Dan ('96 or so?)...whenever, this was their first tour since the '70s.
One of the bands I was in actually had a gig (trust me, this band was was not very listener-friendly & gigs were few & far between).
I give up my Steely Dan ticket because the other 3 guys were whining about missing a gig...so we play our version of white/Rap-core improv for a bar where one patron...honest to God...stood up & toasted "the best goddamn President the US ever had: Jefferson Davis".

Anyone care to top that one?!
