X2 Plus Drop Outs

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi - I posted this on another thread also - but the ttle and subject are a bit different - so I thought it was best to do it this way.

I recently purchased an XDS Plus at GC. Seemed to work fine, At home I can go upstairs two floors up and still get great reception. I had no problem the first two gigs. The last job was not all that large of a room - but it was packed. Before the night started I could go anywhere in the room - no problem. But while we were playing I would get drop outs as I started to move amongst the crowd. It seemed that if too many bodies got between me and the receiver the signal was lost. I could even turn myself about so that my body was not between the receiver and transmitter and after a second or two it would help. So - works great through walls and floors of a house but not a packed room???

I tried a new battery - no good. I tried different channels - no good. There was another X2 Plus on stage but I know we were not on the same channel - we tested that before going on. I also tried a different belt pack cord.

My Shure "Guitarist" UT4 never had this problem - even in more dense situations.

I wound up just using a cord the end of the night. Though the wireless was OK on stage - but after constatly trying channels and stuff I realized that the unit was of no use to me.

Would the rack mount fix this?

Seriously - I use the wireless to go out and check the mix of the band and dance about with the folks. If this is going to be a problem - I may as well take the unit back.

Thanx,

- Ziggy -

I have an XDR1, same thing. Works fine sometimes, not other times. Even when I'm standing right next to it. That makes it a POS in my book, it is now gathering dust.
