XLR to 3 bare wires?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there a microphone cable that goes from the xlr to just 3 bare wires for the 3 pins, like Hot Cold GND, or whatever those are. Recently got ahold of an old power amp, but it only uses barewiring.

Thanks in advance.

B Money

All of them do; just chop off whatever plug is at that end, and strip the wires. Takes one minute.

Yeah, I was thinking of that, because I've done it with 1/4" cable, im just wondering if they sold pre-stripped XLR cables. Are the cables inside labeled so I don't go putting a hot wire on a GND?

Thanks.

You don't want to send a microphone directly into a power amp. You'll need a pre-amp of some sort.

If you remove the small screw, and take apart your XLR plugs,
you should be able to positively confirm the color code relating
to the connector positions with the info below...

XLR pin #1 is ground. (shield)
pin #2 is +
pin #3 is neutral
