Never thought I'd see it, but "I've Seen All Good People" is now background music for a credit card ad. Ick. |

They used that tune in the recent episode of Fringe too |

If you do it the way you want regardless and THEN sell it. BOOYAA!
I'd sell that sucker to every shiny shoe'd tin horn on Madison Ave. with a dollar to spend and sleep like a baby in my brand new silk sheets.
IMHO YMMV |

There's nothing wrong with earning money. I don't care if they wrote it ONLY to use as a commercial someday. Which I doubt they did.

Actually I don't have a big problem with bands making a few extra bucks off of the albums. Heck, wish I had the same problem; either sit here and be rich or sell my song to X corporation and make $1000's more, hmmm.

Still doesn't take away the shock the first time you hear it, though. I can still remember the very first time something like this assaulted my sensibilities:
The late Janis Joplin singing Mercedes Benz for......Mercedes Benz
Felt like a full-throttle slap upside the head. These days, I'm pretty much resigned to the idea *shrug*. If the original artists are making a few bucks from it as well, more power to 'em
For a slightly more hard-azz opinion on the matter, please refer to Neil Young's This Note's For You

| | | | More power to any musician who can turn a buck from their music! We all need to support one another on this, especially nowadays.
