Dennis DeYoung hasn't worked with the band in years. They have a Dennis DeYoung clone, his name is Lawrence Gowan. Lawrence is a real badass. Styx is a great band, Ricky Phillips is a great player and a hell of a nice guy. He goes way back, Baby's, Bad English, etc. Tommy Shaw is a heck of a nice guy as well. All down to earth guys, no Rock Star personas.
Greab a pair of tickets to their show, a great time indeed.

No Anderson or Wakeman - it's Drama all over again.

(I like Drama a lot, actually, but I'll withhold judgment on the new bunch until I hear what they and Trevor Horn come up with this time. At this point I'm very skeptical that the new guy brings artistic substance to the group. Anderson was never a virtuoso, but that's exactly what the band needed - someone with his vision.)

I read an article recently where Squire said they are putting a song on the new album that dates back to the 1980 Drama sessions that they never got around to. It's supposed to be an "Epic" 20 minute side long number ala "Close To The Edge" and "Gates Of Delirium". We'll really find out if they still have "it" with this one.

Don't we all wish that the most successful lineups of our favorite bands stayed together forever. Unfortunately, this is never the case. Most of us have been in bands that folded, and that bands like Styx and Yes could hang in as long as they did is a blessing many of have enjoyed most of our lives. Styx will never bwe the same without DeYoung and Panozzo but the music is still good, and Tommy and James bring a good show to the stage, Yes is Yes, they jhave had so many lineuop changes through the years, I will see them every chance I get, even without Jon Anderson. There is a muisicianship that comes with playing in bands like these, and though it's not Fragile era which was a life changing show for me, it's still going to be entertaining.
