OK, So Im watching the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus on PBS. Yoko Ono just got onstage with Lennon, Clapton, Keith Richards on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums.

Holy Crap that chick cant sing her way out of a paper sack with a sharp stick!!!!!!

I mean, what was the rationalization for letting her on stage to sing, just cuz she is doinkin Lennon?

She's unattractive and can't sing. I never understood what the attraction was. Whale sounds do not constitute singing.

I know eh, I'd love to know who her fans are, the deaf?

How can anyone listen to that and not think it is just terrible?

What bugs me the most is she claims she is a Musician.

Now, had she claimed herself as a Noise-ician, I would have to admit she is the "World's Greatest"

I totally dig Yoko. Sometimes artistic expression is ugly, sometimes it is beautiful. Really, is it worse then some of the stuff that passes for "singing" nowadays? Cookie monster vocals, anyone?

Yeah, Yoko wailed badly. I don't dig cookie monster vocals, either.

But did anyone see The Who perform their medley? Holy moley, Entwistle was all over his fretboard. And watching Keith Moon pulverizing his skins with joyful, reckless abandon! That simply ruled.

That, and I'd guess they were all supremely stoned & thought she was funny.

I've got a Yoko joke, but it's not appropriate for this forum.

i always thought she was a performance artist, rather than a singer. just so happened she had access to the biggest music stages.

i was at a party where one person took control of the radio and put on an all-night yoko ono retrospective. gah! i guess i'm just not that evolved...

Cookie monster vocals like that of Opeth and what not are like 1000% better than the drudgery known as Yoko, and I am half japanese! Busted.....

Its not Yoko's fault, its Lennon for wanting her with him onstage knowing full well she would probably bitch-slap him if he didn't let her...

What was the deal anyway? Did she know Paul McCartney was REALLY dead and threatened Lennon to let the world know if he didn't just let her do what she wanted? I mean, she MUST have been blackmailing him somehow...!

...having said that, everyone knows the Beatles went through the duggy-psdychadelic phase during the mid-late 60's... ...and by the time Lennon woke up to reality it was too late for him to back out - hell, the only reason he left Yoko for May Pang in the 70's is because YOKO told him to! (blackmail again...?)

Come on - anyone who's tried listening to the 1st half of "Life with the lions" in a fully sober state knows how bad she really was!

While we're on the subject, don't forget the infamous soundboard tape of Linda McCartney's "Hey Jude" background vocals:

http://blogfiles.wfmu.org/KF/2006/03..._mccartney.mp3

(There is some debate as to whether this was actually a hoax).

Lennon was a pretty psychologically troubled guy, and I'm glad that Yoko was able to give some stability and happiness to his life. But yeah, he should never have let her near a microphone.

If you don't like the cookie monster voice, no worries. I thinkk Joe Cocker is about the same

But, that is just one of my gripes with Yoko, ie the basics of music, and I'd argue all day that somewhat who had a timbre that many don't like but can totally toss out lines that are melocially intereting and completely on time does outweight the beast known as Ono. But, I don't give her much credit in the pitch dept. And very little when it comes to rhythm. She has some, but seems kinda basic.

Know, if you argue that her pitch and rhythm are every bit as good as the guys I am referring to, well then I can kind of see how 'better' really becomes opinionated. But if its just for the mere fact of teh timbre of the voice, then I claim , IF we are talking about music, I am right.
