Maybe it's just me, but this song is just jumping out as an awesome jam tune to me recently, not only for bass but really every instrument as far as I can tell.

I just wanted to know if I was alone on this one.

I loathe BTO with every fiber of my being. In the classic rock radio staple genre. I'm not big on radio, I can dig most overplayed classic rock, but BTO wrecks my brain.

I respect that. I'm really not into them much myself, I'm just addicted to jamming to that one tune at the moment.

This LP spun lots of times on my turntable in my early teenage years.

"Hey You", the single from this album, is very similar to YASNY.

I just saw Randy Bachman and his band in my hometown of Abbotsford, BC, and he played all of his hits, both from the Guess Who and BTO. It was a killer show, and it was a fundraiser for his brother, Tim, who recently had quadruple bypass surgery and needs time to recover. Best thing to ever hit my town, IMHO.

You got that right.
I would say my favourite part of "YASNY" is the guitar chords...what we used to call "Long Train Running" chords ('hammered-on' minor 7th chords). These occur leading up the the "Rocked-out" chorus.

For the BTO haters, & I would say that I'm not a huge fan...5000+ albums & never bought anything by them...except these from iTunes-
"Blue Collar"...JAZZY. In the same mold, IMO, as The Guess Who's "Undun", a great, great Pop tune from Canned Wheat. Check out the outro to "Blue Collar", too (if interested).

"Sledgehammer"...an instrumental in 6/4, IIRC. Had some bass breaks in there also.
