Hi all,
I'm going to be morphing into a part time keyboard player. I'll still have my bass slung around my shoulder but I believe my band may be a little more versatile if I play some keys. I'll actually sequence most of it. Maybe I'll sample my bass and get a wireless mic and go out and sing to the people!!
Does anyone else here do this type of setup? What keyboards are you using?
Thanks

I was also thinking about playing a washboard with my feet while playing bass.

I also use synth pedals for some Geddy Lee type action.

| | | | Yep, I have an Alesis Ion and Moog Taurus bass pedals for my keyboard/synth side. In the hopefully near future, I want to augment that with a Nord Electro 2 for organ and electric piano sounds, and a Moog Little Phatty for good ol' analog monosynth leads (though in the meantime the Ion can cover that role well enough.) |

I'm very close with my keyboardist in that I program the sounds in his head to his Triton extreme..
As for what I do for myself I'm not a keyboardist (don't have the background) but mostly make electro-industrial/trance stuff..
And I have GAS for a VIRUS |

I know this seems like "selling-out" but some serious lack of gig money is hurting me as a single income family. I know that bars and clubs are not paying much more than they were 20 years ago. I just want my three peice band to sound as full as possible.

I'm considering taking my Motif out this weekend and doing the right hand keys, left hand bass thing again. We need some signature keyboard parts on some of our songs. Wish we could afford to hire a good keyboard player, but we can't, so I guess I'll have to do double duty. Gets tricky at times, playing two instruments and singing harmony- have to split your brain into 3 halves! |

Some of these places are not paying anymore than they did 20-25 years ago.
