So, I was checking out some basses at a local store. I am a 24 yo, cleanish cut, polite, in nice cloths. I know the name of the owner as I walk past.
I ask the guy behind the counter if he knows of any 5 string P basses.(I know there is the squire and the discontinued American P deluxe as I ask) and he says. "NO." and goes back t what he was doing.
So, I walk upstairs and grab a 5 string precision squire and walk down with it and say..."look, you even have one in stock!"
He says, oh, well whats the point in 5 string basses, "you can not even hear the 5th string."

I say "really" he takes me to a fender rumble 110 combo and proceeds to play the B string very hard for the set up the bas has the plays the other 4 strings nicely. I just nod my head and say..."I See"
As I go to put it back he says, "Pretty good hu, ya know...I give lessons here." I have not even played in front of him, or suggested I am looking for anything besides a bass. I decline nicely letting him know that I had to stop teaching 2 years ago and plan to wait till I move again to start. I try and talk about playing and students around here with the college being so well known.
Then I ask for a box to ship a bass in(after buying strings and a strap for a total of $72) and he says that will be $5.00

I pull out my debit card because I see it in his eyes...he was going to pocket the $5.00.
He gets an angry look on his face and says..."well then you will have to pay tax."
I will never go in there again.
