I've seen some expertvillage videos before, and never been very impressed. But this is laughable. It hope it's a joke... it looks like he's putting in a lot of effort just to play that...

That's my buddy Tony Newton.
He's one of the original Motown bassist and has played on some serious Motown tracks as well as some of the sames tracks along with Jamerson(yes two basses). He also the bass player with the famous Tony Williams, Allan Holdsworth Tony Newton trio.
check his bio (and yes he can back it up). http://www.novastarinteractive.com/T...on_BassBio.htm |

The video left me wishing I could hear more than just his slapping, because honestly his sense of time was unsatisfying and he didn't seem very comfortable--like it was taking far too much effort to play that. It just doesn't sound very musical to me either.
Of course, that's only 1 minute 30 seconds of his playing in an instructional out of the decades of recording he has been involved with... He does have an impressive bio, playing with many of my favorite musicians.

That bass kid is a complete dope though, he's lucky those strings didn't just snap in his hands while demoing that nonsense.

I think the worst part about it, besides how unhelpful it is for people, is that he's out of tune. How can he not hear that??? |
