Are you overly fussy?

Hey guys

In a Major Metal style topic, I was wondering who around here is a pedantic muso??

Do you have certain setups, rituals, fussy ways of packing your gear, only use fluoro yellow picks, etc etc???

Our guitarist is mad when it comes to being fussy about his setup and gear. he gets upset if he forgets his favourite patch cord. he changes his 9v batteries twice during a 3 hour show, in case they have lost some charge. he's crazy.

any stories?

Er, you might want to look up "pedantic".

edit: the question was originally "are you pedantic?"

I found 4 definitions, his fits the last, but maybe not the most common.

If these are the four:
http://www.google.com/search?q=defin...utf-8&oe=utf-8

Definitions of pedantic on the Web:

* academic: marked by a narrow focus on or display of learning especially its trivial aspects
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

* A Pedant is a person who overrates or overuses book learning or pure technical knowledge. Such a person values simple knowledge, (in the form of often obscure facts and rules) over common sense and more general knowledge.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedantic

* formal and uninspired; making a vain display of learning
access.autistics.org/resources/glossary/main.html

* too concerned with details or fine distinctions and too ready to criticize minor errors ( disapproving )
encarta.msn.com/dictionary_1861702240/scholastic.html

...Then his fits the fourth only in the "too concerned with fine details" part, which is not how I've ever seen/heard it used before.

Perhaps the title should be "Are you superstitious or finicky?"

Not today...why? Do I look fussy to you? I don't think I'm fussy at all.

I put a lot of stuff on top of my amp, I always arrange it the same way, and I hate it when others put their stuff on there. That area is mine and mine alone! The worst is when someone puts a sweaty drink on top of my word sheets. They are NOT COASTERS!!!
Other than that, I'm easy...

I am not too particular, but I do fiddle with my amps and stuff a lot on my off time. I do like using certain cables and such, and I always plug in my pedalboard.

All of my gigbag zippers must meet at the top of the bag, not the bottom. I can always tell if someone has messed with my stuff when the zippers are on the bottom. Total OCD kind of thing.

I've had to up many people for playing around with my settings. It doesn't happen as much since I changed bands because the new guys have alot more respect. If I encounter the same thing again in future I'm gonna find a special beating stick for the occasion.

That guitarist isn't overly fussy or pedantic. He's obsessive compulsive!

I exhibit no such tendencies myself. As long as everything works, I'm happy.

The best beating sticks around involve a rusty nail through the end.
