I used to do it as a way to make my living, but now I just do it part time, as a hobby. Making money at it now is just icing on the cake, as I really don't need the money I make at it now.

Pretty much sums it up for me as well. I like it much better this way.

It's a Way Of Life.

I won't have much chance of making a living playing bass, not here in Norway. And I'm not sure it'd be quite as fun if my income depended on it.

I didn't make a great living but I didn't do too bad. A lot of times it felt like a grind. I gave it up right around the time my son was born. After about 7 or 8 years I got back into it but decided that I didn't care if I made much money. Any money I made was a plus but this time around I would do it on my terms. I'm only in it for the fun and when it stops being fun I will stop gigging. I'm sure I will always play even if I don't have a gig. It's a way of life and it is what I do/am.

An expensive hobby that has changed my way of life . It is supported by a full time job. I love to play when I am bored.

At the moment, a hobby. I hope to make it a full time job eventually.

Hobby, and it will remain so. I have no interest in entering what is reputed to be one of the most cutthroat industries in the world.

Right no, it's my passion and one of my volunteer ministries...

Eventually, it will become a part of my full-time job

It's my primary hobby. But it's more than that.

It's totally a way of life for me... I just love jamming on bass, even if its by myself. It's definitely much more than a hobby.

But I'm hoping it will turn into a "part time job" soon, doing some paid gigs with one of my bands!

Did anyone else get the urge to say, "For me, playing the bass is a carrot." Since this is a poll and all.
