- "Beat It". In my opinion, Eddie Van Halen perfectly summarized his style on that solo.
- "My Sharona". I can sing that solo almost note for note.
- Ace Frehley's "Shock Me". In spite of his limited vocabulary, Ace has a extremely personal style that influenced lots of rockers. This solo is also a great summary of his style.
- Frank Zappa's "Inca Roads". A great example of creativity over one single chord vamp.
Lots more, but these are the first ones that come to mind. |

| | Reads well and plays nice with others... | | Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Southwestern Pennsylvania | | | Ed King's solos on "Sweet Home Alabama," Molly Hatchet's "Flirtin' With Disaster," and Brad Paisley just amazes the hell out of me...
I'm leaving out the rock stuff since EVH was already mentioned, and Orianthi just made me put my Strat away forever.
But most favorite guitar solo of all-time - Grant Geissman's 2nd solo on Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good" (the album cut - Finally can play it too!)

| | Evil Alien | | Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Sacramento, CA | | | There are far too many... One of my faves is the solo in the Moody Blues' "Ride My See-Saw"... I can't figure out how to play it for the life of me, but I can sing the solo perfectly
Some other faves off the top of my head:
"Seven Seas of Rhye" - Queen
"Motor Oil Shanty" - 8-Eyed Spy (the second solo)
"City Kids" - the Pink Fairies
"Fort Worth Stomp" - Ray Condo and his Ricochets (the final solo after the steel guitar solo)
"Stranded in the Streets" - the Quakes
"Get Yourself Home" - the Pretty Things
I think my all-time fave is in "Leave My Kitten Alone" by the First Gear
