So, I've been a sound guy-in-training at
Studio99 here in Bakersfield since Januaryish...
The last few shows, I've had to do it myself because the usual guy hasn't been able to make it...
The first night was on thursday, the local rock station was filming for their show... They loved me. I got my name on the production credits at the end of the show.
Saturday, the last 2 bands that played said that loved my sound...
Tonight was the ringer, though.
Warner Drive played... Last night, they sold out the Roxy.
"Man, we played The Roxy last night... It sounded like crap on stage. You really have you **** down. That sounded amazing... Can you talk to your management and get us back sometime?"
Hell ya.
When we closed down, the owner came over to me, gave me a key to the front door, told me the security codes for the alarm, "You're employed at Studio99. If you want to quit, lemme know 2 weeks in advance, and if you can't make a show, let me know 2 weeks in advance."
"Oh, and go ahead and have people over, just call me before you do, and you buy anything that breaks."
Suh-wheat.
