Probably nothing but a wah. He tended to keep it in one position to emphasize a certain mid freq.

On the VH1 Classic albums DVD that I have for Apostraphe/Overnite Sensation, Dweezil discusses that FZ used a wah as a "notch filter" to dial in certain midrange frequencies...and if I recall correctly that were talking about that very solo to StinkFoot.

I bought it on a fluke at a regional record store (Rasputin Music). I'm a FZ junkie (as most fans are) and I couldn't believe it when I saw it. It was like X-Mas!

But, because you're a FZ fan and a TBer...here you go...

Not sure what his signal chain was on Stinkfoot, but I know FZ had parametric EQs installed in some of his guitars which let him dial in those really tweezy tones he loved.

Pulled from another forum... I thought I posted this, but it must have not gone through!

rank was using an envelope filter rather than a wah...
but you could use a wah to simulate the effect...

It the same sorta setup he used in the 'Stinkfoot' solo
(also Blessed Relief & 20 Small Cigars)

Ideally, you use an acoustic guitar with a piezo bridge pickup which goes
straight to one (clean) amp....then you have a magnetic soundhole
pickup which goes through an envelope filter (or wah) to a not-so-clean amp...

You really should use an envelope filter to achieve the proper effect...
you can use a Mutron IV (what I use, but expensive), or a Boss T-Wah
or Ibanez Envelope Filter will work almost as well.

So if you're going to replicate it with your setup, you need to
split the signal from the guitar output...run one side through
the Acoustic Simulator to a clean amp (or channel) and run the
other side of the split through the wah and into a more grungy valve amp (or channel)

Hope this is helpful, let me know if I can clarify anything

Here's a badly recorded download of me playing a
Mutron acoustic version of '20 Small Cigars'

( just click on the 2nd download on this page...
.....but check out the other tunes too...heh )

Also... not really ON topic, but does anyone else love the album "imaginary diseases"? That tuba solo on Farther O'blivion is AMAZING!
