zero fret?

OK I no im sounding pretty daft but i keep reading on a bunch of high end basses that have a zero fret? I dont undesrstand can somebody fill me in?

Are you sure it's not refering to an open string, in the tabulature sense.

Yeah, it's a pretty cool idea. Being that I'm lazy, and I like things to be simple (cause, hey, the less I gotta mess with, the less likely I am to screw something up), and I think this might be one more variable to work around in having an instrument set up.

Long as you don't worry about that end of the instrument with regard to changing string height, I imagine it wouldn't be a problem, though.

the problem with searching such a massive site is that, in searching, they will inevitably find a dozen more threads where people posed the question and were simply told to do a search!
