Any teachers out there?

Hey, anyone here teach lessons for more than one kind of instrument? I have a bass teacher who I have been with for a while, several months after starting bass with him I ALSO started taking guitar from him. Do you think it would be acceptable to take double bass lessons from him? The double bass is "his" instrument, and he didn't pick up electric for some time later (he graduated college before Fenders were even out... oldness) but he is also extremely talented on the EB and the guitar.

Anyways, my question (in short!) is: Would you mind teaching one person three different instruments?

I can't speak as a teacher, but as a student I don't see a problem with learning multiple instruments from the same instructor as long as you are clear about which lessons are when so you don't show up with a guitar for your DB lesson.

If you have a good relationship and are happy with what you're getting on EB and guitar, it seems like a no brainer to me. It is "his" instrument, after all.

Why don't you ask him? If I were him wouldn't have any problems with it. He's probably comfortable and experienced in playing and therefore teaching all three instruments.

I think a more relevant question would be; Will you be able to fokus on learning three different instruments at one time?

The focus wouldn't be a problem, I already take three instruments, and after this year in school I will no longer be able to take Baritone Horn from my school, so double bass should be able to fill that gap for me.

And yeah, he is comfortable/experienced on the instruments, he's been playing over half a century!
