Anything going on in Albuquerque next week?

I'll be in Albuquerque (my former home town!!) with nothing to do on Tuesday and Wednesday night. I know they have a small but active jazz scene.....anyone know of anything going on those nights?

Hey Monte,

There are jam sessions both nights and I'm the bassist at both. They are both nice hangs with good players.

Tuesday is 8-11 at Scalo on Central.

Wednesday is 7-10:30 at Vernon's in Los Ranchos on the north end of Albuquerque.

I'd love to hang and have you sit in at one or both.

Great!! I'll make it to one or the other depending on what time I make it in Tuesday. Look forward to meeting you.

Monte,

Micheal is a monster! And a really nice one at that (he graciously lets me hack through on my electric when I have time to show up - been a while).

Scalo can be a great jam with some of ABQ's best jazz musicians. I didn't know about the Vernon's jam, though. I play at their sister restaurant about ever other week, including this weekend.

Definitely hit Scalo if you can, though.

Is this Jon? If so I completely spaced that you are up in Albuquerque now.

I'm hoping to reconnect with my rhythm section mate from Cibola Jeff Romaniuk if he isn't out on tour....don't know if he is playing jazz these days though.

Yep, it's Jon.

I don't spend much time in the DB forums, but I happened to log on when this was on the main page.

I'm sure you'll be busy with plenty to do, but we should try to hook up at some point. I'll send you an email.

Showed up at Scalo tonight and Michael was nice enough to let me sit in.

Let me just say that he is a monster player, and you better hope he stays in Albuquerque or he will come steal all your gigs

Great time, feel, sound.....lot of fun to listen to.

Also, TB electric player lowfreqgeek came out and sat in on fretless and sounded really nice.

Ed, tried to get a pic for you but the lighting was too dark and it is pretty grainy. Here they are such as they are....

Thanks to Monte and Jon for sitting in! They are both great, swinging players, and Jon is one of those rare cats that can really make jazz happen on electric. It was nice to have a little Albuquerque TBDB hang.

Please give me 3 weeks notice if you decide to leave so I can come back to the 'burque. Good jazz scene, it is near 100 degrees and I'm not breaking a sweat, and the two brewpubs I've been to can stack up to any I've visited in my life.....color me jealous.
