The Bad Plus Blog

I recently started reading The Bad Plus blog, DO THE MATH and find it entertaining and informative about great improvised music, music in general, and the arts. Here's a link to it:

tzadik, I read the article about you on the internet magazine. I have family in Maine and actually lived in S. Portland for 7 months once.

I just read the 1/13 entry on DO THE MATH about the late great Michael Brecker. It includes Mark Turner giving props to the master musician.

Jake, That's cool, I really like Maine, but I've been here for almost my whole life so I maybe I'd be happy elsewhere too. It's just that everytime I am out on the road, I count the days until I can be home.

That's cool that you saw the interview. Funny how they always catch you right as everything changes. I stopped playing with FSL a few weeks ago and have moved on to a new project, wheeee, no more hair dye and sh*tty tone...

I liked the TBP blog where they listed their post-secondary education. Heartwarming!

Do you blog?

Peace.
-x

I'm new to the world of blogging. I think it would be cool to have a webpage or a MySpace at some point, you know to help with getting good gigs and things like that.

I guess that Ethan and David King prove that you don't have to go to music school to be great. It sounds like Reid went to Curtis to get out of his hometown. I've never met Reid, but every bass player I've met that has gone to Curtis has been a really nice person.
