Bass bag zipper repair

Last night as I was loading out of the gig, The zipper on my bass bag (a soundwear - great bag with years of service) got misaligned about halfway up the neck portion of the bag and now will only open below that point. It looks like it lost a tooth on one side, and now won't work properly. Where would the good people of TB go to find a place to repair/replace the zipper on such an item?

Hunt down an outdoor gear repair shop that works on sleeping bags.

I had my bag serviced at a dry cleaner that did tailoring. Pretty cheap, and it came out smellin' better.

I haunt quilting stores..

There are tons of ladies who do stitchery passionatley for fun.

Zippers suck and are expensive to replace through stores.

Thumbs up

I go to my usual tailor who keeps a supply (he buys them by the gross) of Industrial, X-Tra long size Pants Zippers for my monthly replacement visits to check wear and tear and missing teeth (from my pants!) on the fly(s).
He just stitches a few together to make one long ( ) zipper for my bass case.

I have a Mooradian with a bunch of jacked up zippers, that's why I opened this thread! It has served me well, but I'd like to stretch more years out of it if I can.

It's hard to leave it in a shop for repair, because how am I going to move my bass around while it's there? No one will do it while I wait.

+1 on a shoe repair shop. My local cobbler fixed a zipper on my son's bat bag, as well as fixed broken lacing on a glove, for cheap!

I've never had any problem w. Mooradian's main zippers on thier bass cases...It's the cord pockets that blow out cuz I'm a stuffer... too much stuff in there. I've talked to them about using better zippers because of schemp's like me...

It's not the main zippers on mine either, I'm just a complainer.

And where do you find a shoe repair place these days? They seem to have gone the way of TV repairmen.

I didn't realize it wasn't the main closure, man. You don't have an old case laying around to sub? I can shoot one out to you to use if you want, while you getchers fixed.
Yeah, like Bob said good old fasionned shoe repair shops are hard to find anymore.
Shoot me a PM on that case. Be easier to borrow there though.

I think that Chris's is the main closure, mine's just the stuff pockets. Thanks for the offer, though, Paul. Very cool of you.

Find a place that does luggage and shoe repair, I had mine replaced on my Upton bag, and it's better than new.

They used a name brand YKK zipper that is much better than the crappy zipper that broke the first day I owned it.
